    The OP states "What I am loking at is hardware stability and the longest possible life from my hardware". Set all of your system settings to auto. Move on. Seriously, the machine will not last a day longer because of anything you can do better than the stock settings and it's highly unlikely...

    Really guys ? Unless your gaming at 2001 resolutions of something like 1024x768 or even 1680x1050, I doubt there will be any significant difference between a i750 and an E8700 in real world use. In fact I'd say the E8700 would be the better chip for 85% of what people actually use their PC...

    I ran an E8400 at 3.6Ghz on my gaming rig for a long time before going Quad core and handing it over to my son. If memory serves it was cruising along fine at 9 x 400 with about +.2 on the core voltage and + .1 on the chipset voltage. Of course all chips are different and I have not kept track...

    It depends heavily on what you'll use it for...if your into hardcore gaming, multi-monitor setups, or graphics work buy the fastest card you can afford, something in the ATi 58** series would be great. If your doing casual gaming, web, email and facebook type of stuff then any mid-level card...

    I dont believe your using the proper driver(s)...I'm fairly sure support for 5*** series cards started with the 8.** series drivers. I have had zero problems with my 5870 but I always use the latest driver release... http://www.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDHomePage.aspx
