Everytime I try to open a desktop chortcut by double-clicking on the icon, windows file finder opens. I was customizing my desktop and I'm not sure how I enabled this. Any ideas?

Haven't had the chance to burn a data DVD yet. I was recommended to scan my drive speeds with Nero and upgrade the chipset drivers if the results from the speed test are slow. The DVD I tried burning this morning is still burning so I have to wait for it to finish before I upgrade chipset drivers.
