Questions about the 939 AMD 64

The upgrade is going to get you what, maybe 30% better performance, for what, $280 bucks, or more once you upgrade the memory. What's the rush?

nForce 4 for socket 754? Will it happen?

754 isn't going away any time soon, since AMD is moving their value line to it, and PCIe is going to be mainstream (nVidia already has low priced cards on the way), so you can bet there will be a variety of 754 PCIe boards, its just a matter of when

PCX on an Athlon XP platform?

Why would it? AMD has pretty much end-of-lifed the AthlonXP and SocketA. Socket 754 will definitely get it, but I'd be really suprised about SocketA.

    Worth investing in PCI-Express now?

I'm eyeing that board at NewEgg too. Appearantly it won't OC at all, which is probably fine for me, since I'm more about reliability than constant tuning and tweaking. On the other hand, the main reason I'm even considering a PCIe board right now is that I'm looking to maximize my options...

    Worth investing in PCI-Express now?

I don't do major upgrades often, preferring instead to nickle and dime processor, memory and vid card upgrades. I've been happy with the value of going this way. When I do upgrade, I stay in the mid-range. This time out I'm going to go PCIe. It's got a real future. AGP is already looking...

    When do socket 754 pci-e mobo's arrive?

I don't have a good answer, but given that AMD is phasing out Socket A and seems to be making 754 the platform for Semprons at the same time that vid-card makers are making PCIe cards for the low to mid-end of the market, I'd guess that we will see socket 754 MBs with PCIe before too long. My...
