    Asus a8n-e..

You can give the WD40 a try, maybe it works for some time, but i think that the fans bearings are worn out and the problem will boomerang soon :) There were two different fans used on this board: - http://steelwhitetable.org/med...fan-on-motherboard.jpg -...

best solution: try to find a cheap, broken a8n sli premium, this board uses same layout as a8n-e and offers passive heatpipe cooling for nf4 chipset - you will never have any problem with biggest video cards. http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/3439/c32ccfe19cx.jpg

A8N-E Phoenix AwardBIOS v6.00PG - am I up to date?

You're runnning Bios 1011-004, that's a Beta Version. Latest Bios is 1013, but many people use 1010 since it's stable and fast. Bios Updates for A8N-E can be found here: ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/socket939/A8N-E/

you need nforce4 driver, not nForce 430/410 http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_win2k_6.86.html version 6.86 is latest. pubilshed this month, runs stable and did not find any complaints about on the net. some ppl say, even the firewall works now with 6.86 if you do not overclock...

    Asus a8n-e..

sandeep, i have some homework for you today: 1. use a infrared temperature sensor to get chipset cooler temperature 2. un-plug the small chipset fan from board and monitor the "motherboard temperature" i would wonder if you will get other results than users already have tried these...

    Asus a8n-e..

napalm684, on the A8N-E, the so called "MB temperature" is _not_ the chipset temperature. this sensor must be installed anywhere else, but definitly _not_ near the nforce4. as far i experienced, this temperature seems to be more like a 'ambient temperature'. i have always about 36°, except...

ahhh....you're not running max cpu multi... since i'm using CnQ, i have to set max cpu multi to 10. and NO, i don't want to use third party tool to replace CnQ :) i put all the stuff in my first atx-midi tower from 1997 :) i get 38°C idle and around 50°C under load (arctic freezer 64)...

hey corsa, thanks for the tip, i can set DDR300 with A64Tweaker (verified with CPU-Z), but after saving values to use on windows startup and reboot, DDR300 is not set, have to fix it manually. did you check out, if "apply settings on startup" is working on your machine? tried to set DDR...

unfortunately, the highest available Vcore in BIOS is 1.55V if a venice-core (90nm) is installed on the A8N-E. 1.65V can only be chosen on older A64 cores. i've been googling, but could not find a single modded bios for this board. another thing i miss on the A8N-E are further...

i'm using asus update V6.07.01 for windows, before flashing, go to options and activate "bios downgradable". works fine for me. (with later versions of asus update i had problems flashing older bios)

@ EndGame almost 1.7V Vcore is too much for A64x2 in 0.09µ technology did you take a look on your CPU temperatures under heavy load?

werty316, OC works great using CnQ....as long CPU-multi is set to max in BIOS (not auto) if CPU-multi is not set to max, the machine will freeze as soon as CnQ feature is used for first time. CnQ is using different CPU-multis to clock down the CPU, but after "CNQ idle mode", CnQ switches...
