I hope this isn't the wrong forum...if so I apologize.
So my system posted fine. Temps and everything else seems stable. I went to try to load Vista and got the following error after selecting the HDD I wanted to install Windows on -
"Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets...
Thanks all.
Midnight Rambler - I realize 1066/4 = 266, and times a 9 multiplier would give you the stock 3.0 Ghz...that makes sense. But why do you divide by 4? If I were using a quad core that would make sense, but I'm only running dual core.
wired347 - yes I have been spending a good...
Actually I've read the manual several times, so that's not the problem. Or, it actually is. I'm questioning a couple things I read in it - as there was not any additional explanation provided.
1) My first question still remains. If CPU Speed = CPUM x FSB, why are they saying I can use a...
So here are the specs for my new rig...just waiting on a few final components -
Case: Cooler Master Cosmos 1000
Power Supply: Cooler Master Real Power 850W
Motherboard: ASUS P5E
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Cooling: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
Video Card: EVGA GeForce 8800GTS...
Thanks all.
I just placed my order with Newegg, and also decided to send back a kit of DDR2 2x1GB memory. From what I've read, combining 2 different kits (especially when versions are different) is just asking for trouble.
Now I just need to pick out what version 8800 vid card I want...
Thanks for the quick reply n7. Sounds like this MOBO could work for me.
In general are overclock limitations when it comes to MOBOs with respect to the MOBO's FSB/voltage?
One other question -
Does anyone know if the IP3-E will run 4 sticks of 1GB ram? I was also looking at the...
I'm putting together a new rig and have already purchased about 3/4 of my components, including 4 GB (4 x 1GB) of Corsair DDR2 Dominator 1066 memory. The last 3 things I have to get are MOBO, Video Card, and CPU.
I know I'm going to go with an Intel 8400, and some form of Nvidia 8800GT...
I'd pick one of these up for the new system I'm building, but I've already got my Corsair DDR2 1066 RAM.
Seeing as I can't use this board, is there an obvious "step up" or alternative great deal for a P35 board that supports 1066 memory?
Thanks all.
lopri - that pic helped. I guess it's really not all that long a reach when you consider how far the PSU sticks in.
I'd jump all over that Abit P35-E, except it only supports DDR800. My going with DDR1066 essentially rules that out. I'm looking at the Asus P5K-E at this point.
I'm planning to overclock my processor a bit, since it sounds like a decent overclock is a given with this card. I'm after the easy gains though, and not looking to squeeze every bit I can out of it. My main purpose is gaming, and general use, so I'll take any low hanging fruit I can (i.e...
I've begun making the purchases and plans for my new rig.
I've already picked up an Antec Nine Hundred and 4GB of Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066 RAM.
I know I'm going with an 8400 and most likely an Nvidia 8800 of some flavor. I'm not planning to go SLI and don't need more than 4 SATA...
I would just spend $20 and pick up a new one. You would be missing the fan brackets that hold the fan on. There are not any holes in the top of the AP-94 to screw into.
I have the AP-94 and a Thermalright Smart Case Fan II.
P4 2.4C @ 3.12 GHz with Thremalright SP-94 and Thermaltake Smart Case Fan II -
Idle - 34C
Full Load (normal gaming) - 51C
Full Load (Prime95) - 56C
This is with an Abit IS7 Mobo so who knows if they are accurate.
Just one more question...how do I turn the second instance of Prime95 off? I noticed when I turned on my computer this morning that Prime95 began running immediately. I assume that I have to stop it again using the same in directory command line?
Scared me at first cause my CPU fan was...
