well i have a knoppix disk here...a pretty old one....what exactly do i do to combine these programs and how do i got about fixing my MBR?(is that what i need to fix?) also which copy of TestDisk do i download?...the Linux one...or the Linux RPM or SRPM..or what?...i am really quite a noob...

Well i was fooling around with dual booting Windows XP and Mac OSX 10.4.8....and ended up screwing up my MBR and boot.ini file beyond repair...so i decided to give up and just reinstall a fresh copy of XP. well that was all good i got it installed and back up to par...when i started to notice...

ok well i bought a whole new system...which included a Pentium D 930 and a Asus P5LD2 motherboard....well after long nights i have found out my BIOS needs updateing in order to support this CPU....and the price ot get a new chip from Asus is $20....well i can ship my motherboard back and...

chances are your motherboard does not support your CPU and will need a BIOS update to do so....in order to do the update your going to either need to do a Hot Flash....or throw an older CPU in there do the BIOS update then put your original CPU in. THNX Duggy

well after reading and getting responses in a few places it seems my motherboard may need a BIOS update in order to handle my 930 CPU....now the only problem is how do i update it if i can not get it to POST? THNX Duggy

hmm nope i have triple checked those....i even took the motherboard out and took out a couple motherboard standoffs thinking maybe it was shorting something and also just to try and reinstall everything... this really has me stumped becuase i dont even know what to RMA anymore... THNX Duggy

no i got spare nothing...except optical and HD...all the rest is above all my current systems...its 775,PCI-E and DDR2...all mine is 478,AGP and DDR i got a spare PSU but i dont even want to plug it into this high end system becuase its really really low quality and i dont want to risk frying...
