    Is this normal?

I was posting on the laptop: Coretemp shows the same temperature (95ºC). And i said "was" because it turned off when it reached 99ºC. Vents are clean, room temperature is about 20ºC so...

    Is this normal?

I have an HP DV8000 laptop with that processor. I never cared about my laptops' cpu temperature until yesterday -just mere curiosity-, i installed speed fan and it shows 45ºC idle (@low voltage and low speed) and -holy f**k- 95ºC load (no energy saving stuff). Is this normal?

need to make a cheapo computer for my mom.

I don't think she needs C2D e6700+2gb ram+8800gts for emailing websurfing and stuff

Will another hard drive fix my problem?

That will do it, on the other hand, you'd better check your card's manufacturer site for vista ready drivers before getting the hdd

AMD or Intel die hard fanboy

I'm not a fanboy but i prefered AMD over Intel (6 AMD CPU's vs 2 Intel)... Until C2D arrival, i didn't think too much about getting my E6600 and replacing my old Barton 2800+

    Newbie question about E6600 multiplier

Check the multiplier in the bios, maybe it's on 6x (as far as i know, the bios sets the limit, so if you have 8x in the bios, windows won't go higher, even if there's an extra multiplier). In fact, when i first turned on my machine, it had a 6x "fail safe" multiplier, the only thing you gotta do...

    Newbie question about E6600 multiplier

I had the same issue(?) with my E6600+DS4 setup, the solution was to set the machine to "laptop" under the energy management. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v236/dark_ruffo/000014.png CPUZ will show you the correct speed/multiplier aswell...

How many people here have E6400's that don't make 3.2GHz?

Something between 333 and 350 FSB will be a nice risk free overclock. If he can afford an E6400... He should go for it, higher multiplier will help reaching higher speeds since he's ram speed limited.

How many people here have E6400's that don't make 3.2GHz?

Yeah, maybe is the stepping and stuff... I got mine around september, Stepping 6, revision B2. I was just curious to find out, Thanx.

How many people here have E6400's that don't make 3.2GHz?

This is kinda OFF-TOPIC, but... I don't know about you, but i have my 6600 C2D running @ 3.0Ghz (333*9) is not a super hi-speed (specially when compared against those 3.6+ Ghz OCed C2D) but, by the time being, i don't need more speed. The good thing about my overclocking is that I lowered...

Core 2 Duo processor only showing 1 CPU in Task Manager

The task manager let you select if you want only one graphic for the whole cpu usage, or if you want one graphic for each thread or core. Task Manager I know it's in spanish but, you get the idea.
