Monster cyclone about to hit Australia

It's too late to move to shelters, the advice is to stay where you are and go to the strongest part of the house. 61,000 homes already without power, 2 hours until landfall. Scary to watch this developing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcz8DDaRjkc Emergency shelters include underground...

Monster cyclone about to hit Australia

This looks very frightening, Cyclone Yasi is packing winds of 180mph, 30mph faster than Katrina, seas 20 feet higher than high tide. It's expected to cross the coast in 3 hours. Radar: http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR192.loop.shtml This is the same state to have massive floods just a few...

The Wikileaks dessemination megathread (Cablegate and beyond)

BoA is now not allowing any transactions to support Wikileaks. Companies too big to fail, and unethical behaviour too big to uncover. I'm happy that people have been given the opportunity to leak information to hold our governments and companies to account. They obviously feel very threatened...

    Wikileaks, Iraq edition

It's good to have all this out in the open. As the Pentagon call this "essentially snapshots of events, both tragic and mundane, and do not tell the whole story", would they be able to tell us the whole story?

They plan 'refugee rape camps'? What 'rock' are you on? Apparently there's an election in August.

    Official World Cup Soccer Thread

That did look like an unintentional ankle-tap actually. As the Chilean's knee went past the Spanish ankle, he stumbled slightly, while the Spanish guy obviously got his legs crossed over and thus fell.

    Australian PM ousted.

Even a week is a long time in politics. I think the voters gave him a spanking for not staying the course on the emissions trading scheme, even when the going got tough.
