Well good news, $1500 gets you a lot of PC. Build your own is pretty much always better, you will get better parts for less money.
Personally i prefer AMD's current offerings compared to Nvidia's but Nvidia still has some great cards.

Should you buy it? I wouldn't advise it, Alienware is massively over priced, you will get ripped off.

Well if this is going to be for gaming ditch the i7 and get an i5 2500k. The i7 will not make any real difference in games. Use the money you save to get a better case.
I like to think of a case as an investment, a good one will last you many years and several builds, it's worth getting a good one.
There is not a lot i can fault here. You may want to consider saving yourself some cash by getting 4Gb or Ram rather that 8Gb. You won't see much of an advantage in gaming past 4Gb
