Dell desktop suitable for a Hackintosh ?

I might have the opportunity to purchase one of several Dell desktops for a good price soon. Are any of the current Dell desktop boxes suitable for a Hackintosh ? e.g. one of the Inspiron or the lower priced Studio XPS machines ? (obviously they'd have to be Intel-based models, either Core 2 Duo...

New Apple Toys: Multi-touch Mouse, 16:9 iMacs, updated white MB, Mini spec bump

All in all a nice set of upgrades, and the new "server" Mac Mini is a cool idea. But I was hoping the entry price for the lower end Mini would come in at around $499 (or a bit less). So I guess, being in the market for an inexpensive Mac desktop, I'm not overly excited ::shrug:: Back to...

    Encoding video for iPod touch

I seem to remember Handbrake having some presets for the iPod Touch/iPhone. Here's a good HOW-TO for Handbrake: http://www.mahalo.com/how-to-use-handbrake

iPhone 3GS power button is driving me crazy

Could be. Both of those buttons on my 3GS provide sufficient tactile feedback...

    New products Adsense leak

If Apple combines this with a speed bump on the C2D (2.66 GHz ?), a decent amount of HDD space, and lowered the entry price on that to $499 or less, they'd have a winner on their hands. IMHO, Apple has a perception problem with the Mini being marketed against all of those $399, low end...

Anybody here tried any of those Windows RDP apps for the iPhone?

True, Apple Remote Desktop uses the VNC and RFB (remote frame buffer) protocols. There are clients for Mac (obviously), Windows clients like CoRD, etc...

Snow Leopard retail install on a good mATX MB ?

Hey, no problem. I'll take good advice wherever I can find it :D The "multiple drives" method involves choosing one or the other as the boot drive from the BIOS, yes ? So here's what I've got on my list so far: * Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2L * Intel Core 2 Duo E7600 (3.06 GHz) * 4 GB...

Snow Leopard retail install on a good mATX MB ?

Zaap, Cool, thanks! and this Lifehacker Snow Leopard guide worked w/o modification, eh ? That's sweet. Also, is this the same system that's in your .sig line ? If so, I assume the same Lifehacker guide also worked with the 8600GTS card you list instead of the 9800 GTX+ model Adam Pash used...

Snow Leopard retail install on a good mATX MB ?

Yes, the GA-G31M-ES2L does look good, and buying a NIC is no biggie. And further research shows that the PCIe slot in the G41M-ES2H is only x4, not x16. So maybe combine this MB with a Core 2 Duo E7600 ? (I'm guessing that a good place to begin is that looooong thread you started about a...

Snow Leopard retail install on a good mATX MB ?

I'm looking for an easy, retail install of SL on a good quality mATX form-factor MB (have a case I really like that won't hold a full sized ATX MB). Was looking at the Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2H as an example: * socket LGA 775 * Northbridge Intel G41 * Southbridge Intel ICH7 *...
