So you are suggesting Desktop Zen 2 will be 16 core (2x 8core CCX)? I wouldn't be surprised, 7nm 8 core Zen would be tiny (Less than half 14/12nm Zen die size).

If they use 4 core CCX like now, what are they going to do with all that extra space? I doubt they will sell the same as what we have now at smaller die area, lower power and cheaper... They have to improve somewhere other than die shrink, why not up core count & increase AVX with other...

I like the Threadripper source, only requires quad channel, so assuming Threadripper doesn't require only 2 dies, they could take 3 to 4 defective Ryzen dies with gimped Memory Channels to create a Threadripper SKU that satisfies the quad channel memory.

Wow that 8c/16t part... It's literally the shining corner of Infinity Fabric, allowing AMD to take garbage 8c/16t dies with only TWO functional cores they would normally throw away and gluing four of them together to create a $400 server part with all 128 PCIe lanes and all 8 DDR4 channels...
