Agree with zakee00,
I have stock thermal pad on my cooler ( not the AMD default one tho ), and have my A64-3000 Winie running at 2475 stable and cool:)
A64-3000 Stable at 260 x 9 = 2340
with 2 x 512 Corsair XMS XL running at 1:1 of course, and full load temp 47'C with copper heat sink (will get an XP120 and lower it a bit more as well).
will boot at 275 but is not stable beyond 270 in Prime95 and Memtest.
CPU voltage is stock ( I recon...
It is just a small clock speed diff, and not something to write home about imho.
It is not SUCH a big difference, and on 99.9% of the occations you will be able to clock your no PE card with ati tool easily as high and maybe higher if you need to.
As Steffenm said they are noy out on AGP...
Most 19" have 1280 tbh, thing is dude, take a look at the LG monitor they have for 19", tis 1280, no DVI of course for this range, and 12ms, and tis LG with a guarantee of 0 pixel tollerence!!
Better to go with something known to the market imho.
I got 2 x 512 Corsair XMS XL, and worked fine when I first put them on, immediately run at 2-2-2-5, and o/c well as well, im at 9 x 265 atm, with A64-3000, and the memory is just fine:)
I would thing the OCZ EL Rev 2.0 will be such as good tbh.
Hi from me as well,
I have been reading this thread alot lately and have a question of my own.
I have the latest beta bios 1004-006 (i think, latest anyway).
With it I am running my Winie 3000 at 240 FSB all fine but I am having problems with the RAM.
I have 2 x 512 Corsair XMS XL...
I know for sure that the XL's do 2-2-2-5 cause I have them:)
So get those, there is another model as well that is exactly the same as the XL (chip and timings wise) but they dont have the LED's on top!
Maybe that's the two prices you are seeing, the 1 with the leds and the 1 with out, same...
OK, got mine ine the UK yesterday, put everything up (A3000 Winchester, 2 x 512 Crucial XL, MSI 6800GT), found everything booted up like a dream, installed windows all goin well :)
Only thing is everytime I boot i asks and waits a few secs is I wana set up a RAID array, how do I turn that off...
Housecat has everything right in my opinion as well.
I just got a new rig with A8N-SLI, I was to get the MSI Neo 2, but when I learned that pci-e is coming to the AMD I waited, and its worth the wait.
I got an MSI 6800GT OEM, in tha uk and payed 260 quid for it. Thats 500$ but bear in mind...
For the UK peeps,
I just got a mail from scan, telling me that my mobo should be with me on Monday or Tueasday since they are getting a limited run of 50 today.
Dont know if you will manage to get one now since I placed my order on the 29/11 but they are coming to the UK at last!
Hi peeps, has anyone from you from the UK gotten an A8N yet??
I have mine under order 15 days now, and was due on the 16th, but today they told me after xmas apparently.
Ive ordered from www.scan.co.uk
Anyone has managed to get a hold on one?
Regards,
16x is as much as we are going to see fromthe current tech.
Already at 16x the disk is spinning in excess of 10K rpm / minute and its the physical limit of the machinery included. so dont expect to see anything faster than this.
And do not confuse the 52x of a CD-r with the 16x of a DVD...
This board compared to tha Asus and Gigabyte has also another problem (not for all peeps of course but a one for those wanting to use SLI) that is that the distance between the two pci-e ports is very small and there is a chance that the secondary card (the one closer to the cpu) will overheat...
