Yea I thought it was suspicious too until I remembered seeing the serial number before opening the box. Repackaging the box after opening makes it seem like something was cutout.

I only know of the BigLots deal for the 4-pack of Panasonic AA batteries for $4.99 (posted a week or two back). I picked up two packs a couple days ago and they seem to work fine. I ordered this charger since it included AAA batteries so I could have some of those too.
