Well, I took the plunge and got 2 1TB LP drives for my MediaSmart server. They cost about $10 more than the 1TB GP drives, but for that, I am sure to get 2 platter, and a pass on the head parking issues.

Yeah, I know, I meant if it can be controlled for the Barracuda LP. I read that the GP with the older firmware will write the head parking as a load/unload in SMART. The new firmware doesn't do it.

The manual says it parks the head while in standby mode, but it doesn't say anything about initiating that on its own. The manual reads like it accepts a standby signal, which will then park the heads. If this is true, it may be controlled in the power scheme options of windows?

If I remember correctly, I believe that Lord Evermore is right. The built in windows defraggers are limited in what they can defrag because the system (either the OS, or through the BIOS) is limited in which part of the drive it can address. As for large drives, if there is a lot of content...

Sorry, what is ONES? Are other programs also giving this error? Try other media. Try using kprobe and dvd identifier to check your discs.
