Asembling System with Asus A8N SLI - Tips??

Be aware that when you get it up and running, do not unplug or switch off your power supply...there's a bug with this thing where it will not post after losing power (if that green led goes off). You'll need to reset CMOS if this happens. I don't know if newer bios fixes this, as the following...

ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe... overclocking success / oddities

    oops, wrong board

Please Post A8N SLI Deluxe 1004 Beta BIOS link

To get this to work, you need to floppy flash it...ASUS update doesn't work. It seems stable, I don't think it fixed anything too important...OC's same, no NCQ, etc.

    ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe

While I do agree that one may learn from reading those threads, it seems that there are many people who are very frustrated, having just spent hundreds to thousands of dollars on a new system that won't work. A simplified list might help them enough to get their computer working, at which point...

    ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe

Problem is, there's 3 threads, and they're rather large...maybe I should have just posted on one of them, but I was hoping to try to boil them down to a few informative posts, that people wouldn't have to sort through threads to find (I've probably read about 100 pages worth of posts on this...

    ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe

Any chance of compiling a list of known issues/incompatibilities/things to watch out for, regarding the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe ? For example: NCQ problems, audigy2 problems, video card problems, etc.

    GA-K8NXP-SLI

good to know...just a little nervous about a place that didn't say they were out of stock, that I had never heard of, and whose web site wasn't working very well.

    GA-K8NXP-SLI

Unfortunately, that place doesn't have the boards in stock (doesn't say that when ordering). I placed the order last night, got an email about a credit card problem today, and when I called, once I finally found someone competent, they said it was not in stock, and didn't really know when it...

Anyone get the Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI yet?

thanks for the info...have you used these power supplies? They don't have too many reviews on newegg.

Anyone get the Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI yet?

Thanks...any suggestions what psu (looking to stay sub $90 if I can)? The 450w modstream seems pretty close to that bare minimum, and I do plan on overclocking. Tigerdirect has a 500w xconnect for $69 with rebate, but it's not 24pin or pcie.

Anyone get the Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI yet?

Just ordered it from 3g (see above). I have questions about HSF and psu, though. I have a 400w rosewill psu that came in my case, but only 17amps on the 12v. Had I better upgrade? I hear a lot on the ocz powerstream, which is not available...what about the modstream? Will the zalman 7700...

    rosewill case

just pulled the trigger on the k8nxp-sli. What heatsink will work? I'd like the Zalman 7700 over the xp90, as it's height is lower, I just want to make sure it will fit...read something about gigabyte boards being a little funny. thanks

    rosewill case

So OC'ing not a good idea with this? I don't quite understand the effect a psu has on a system, other than needing enough power to feed all the components, and I haven't seen it explained well anywhere...mostly I see warnings not to skimp on psu, but not why. Thanks

    rosewill case

I'm building my first pc, and got this case/powersupply from newegg, I plan on A643200+, gigabyte k8nxp-9 (if it ever comes out), 2x512 of the patriot pc4000, a seagate sata2 drive, and I'm not sure what video card yet ($120-160). Do I need a different power supply, or just a bunch of adapter...
