You can set up multiple virtual environments within an os using vmware or virtuozzo's operating system virtualization technologies. They will behave independently of the underlying os and you can manage each of them separately.

The driver update did nothing :( The entire computer is a new build with a fresh install of windows so it has never played correctly. I'll try disabling the sound, but I don't think I will notice the stutter since it is very subtle.
