I was using Nero 8 Burning Rom to burn an audio CD which was slightly over the 80min limit, I think 84ish. Nero asked me if I wanted to try overburn to burn the disc, but warned me that it could damage the disc or the drive. I did a quick google search and figured it would be O.K. or worse case...

Ok, I've managed to spot a few BUFFER OVERFLOW's in Process Monitor, around the time the mouse freezes. Again, it's hard to be sure since theres hundreds or thousands of entries scrolling by. I've seen it on svchost.exe, on monsync.exe, and maybe on one other process.

I've been trying to catch the error under Process Monitor but it's so difficult, the list is so fast. Plus I haven't found a way to sort the results using the column headings. I'd like to be able to sort the actions by the 'Result'. I think there may be some entries that pop up when it happens...

I just tried to play Company of Heroes which came with the XFX 8800 GT Alpha Dog Edition. Most benchmarks of the game with this card at 1600x1200 resolution with everything maxed out come in around 30FPS average.

I think I have the same mouse. MX518. It's a couple of years old. For some reason I don't think it's the mouse itself thats the issue. Probably some service or something in the background. I will try changing USB ports.
I also use a Viewsonic USB keyboard. I have not installed any drivers...
