Thank you for the information.
I am not very "tech savvy", so I did not know that. So, if I understand well, i could use an Antec 300 with this MB and have 2 front usb ports...
Thanks again and happy holidays
Hi,
I want to build a new system with a i5 CPU. The Gigabyte's GA-P55-UD3R seems a very good motherborad for it, but when i read the specifications, it appears to me that all the external USB ports are on the back panel. Am i right ? What would be a good motherboard, with 10 external USB...
Hello,
I want to build a new PC for my wife. She loves video and photo editing with Photoshop Elements and Premiere elements. I would build the new system around the i5 or the Phenom X4 955. The benchmarks seems to make the i5 like the best choice, but I am a little afraid to put my money...
I am looking to build a new system from scratch (I am currently on a X2 4200), for my wife (Photoshop Elements + Premiere Elements for family/travel video and photo editing) and me (games, waiting for Starcraft II, Diablo III, next episode of Half-Life). My monitor is 22 inch. I leave in...
Thanks for all the feedback.
I am running at 1680 but I do not want to invest too much in a new card : under $100. And here in Canada, even with our strong dollar, electronics is still expensive. So the 9600GT is the more expensive I would go. In fact, the 4670 is more in my price...
I am not that good in computers. I do not know if my PSU has a 6 pin connector (whatever that is)
The PSU came with the Sonata II. It is an Antec Smartpower 2.0
Here is my config :
CPU : Athlon X2 - 4200 (s939)
GPU : 7600 gt
RAM : 4 x 512 DDR
Case Sonata II with 450W
My harddrive is beginning to show some signs of dying on me. I must change it. I will have to bring it at my computer specialist so he can open the case and change the hard...
So, if I would like to build my new system with the possibility of 1 CPU upgrade in 2 years (without having to upgrade the motherboard) which is the best choice ? A AMD Phenom II X4 on a AM3 MB or an Intel system based on, say, I5 and LGA 1156 ?
I want to build a new system. I am serioiusly thinking about a Phenom II X4 965 (or 955) one. But I was wondering about the upgrade path of this system. For instance, if I build this system with a GA-MA790XT-UD4P motherboard, will I be able to upgrade for a faster CPU in 2 year ? In 1 ? Or is...

I am using Windows XP. Elements is slow to execute tasks. Specially when my wife tries some special transitions effects between photos in the slideshow.
My hard drive is a Western Digital WD1200JS. 7200 RMP (i think). But the fact that it is almost full (i just have 15 gb left on this...
Hi,
Here is my config :
CPU : Athlon X2 - 4200 (s939)
GPU : 7600 gt
RAM : 4 x 512 DDR
1 - My wife like to use Photoshop and Premiere Elements to make some slideshows with lot of effects. But the performances of the computer are very sluggish. Is it normal ? What could be done to...
Thank you all.
After reading your answers, I think I will go with Vista, which seems better than I tought. Indeed, I want to use the 4gb of memory that i will put in this system.
Thank you again.
In fact, here my problem
1- I am not really interested in using an OS as soon as it becomes available on the market. I would prefer to wait until 1 or 2 updates / service pack.
So, i am not that interested in Windows 7.
2- I am not really interested in Vista, because I heard many horror...
For a new system (Phenom II for Photoshop, video editing and gaming), what would be the wiser choice for the OS ?
Buy Windows XP, and go with Windows 7 when i will have no choice
or
Buy Windows Vista, and go with Windows 7 when it will be available ?
