@rick oh, I will look into that. 83C is too high right? @zagood yes, stock heatsink fan. I will consider that. I use SPD settings only. Tried upping CPU voltage from 1.35 to 1.36 and 1.37, but still get same random shut downs.

updates. i think i found the culprit. My CPU's temp @ 340mhz is 83C. But i wonder, will high temp shut my pc down randomly? Is there a feature in bios that does that?

oh btw, no voltage changes for both cpu and mem.

No need to reinstall vista now... i reverted back to catalyst 7.4 and everything is well now... back to vibrant colors and my fps games were improved. Although some of my games dropped 5-10fps... you really cant win em all.

@stumps not yet.. i only did clean registry of all drivers and reinstalling them to no avail. That was my last resort before i confirmed that it was driver related. btw, what driver cleaner should i use? the 0.40 or the driver cleaner pro (older version... dunno if support vista)?

UPDATE: it seemed like my two major problems: 1. washed out colors 2. low performance in 3d games IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT 7.6 catalyst is very poor in Vista 64 ultimate. I read lots of same issues in guru3d forums. Any of you guys have the same problem?
