    What about setting your home page, and new tab page, www.google.com. That page normally displays a gmail link in the upper right corner of the page. Just click it to open your email.

    If I understand you correctly, I disagree. I have Office 2007 installed on my Windows 7 desktop PC and my Windows 8 laptop and I get updates for Office 2007 practically every time I get Windows updates.

    Isn't cleartype controlled by Windows, not by specific applications, such as PDF Viewer? In other words, it's a global feature, not app-specific.

    How about saving your file in Word 97-2003 for RTF format instead of Word 2007? Might be worth experimenting with different formats.
