I know that it is ECC RAM. Being registered memory or plain unbuffered memory however is the difference between my server running happily or not booting at all.

Is there a way to tell whether an OEM RAM module (in my case an SDRAM module) is actually a registered ECC RAM module? I received a RAM module which is supposed to be a 512MB PC133 Registered ECC SDRAM module. It does not look like the lower module on this page...
