    GeForce 6600 GT & Dell 4500?

One final word in case anyone is still following this thread, then I'll let it rest. Played Splitter Cell Pandora Tomorrow last night. Although I didn't exact love the game (too much stealth for me -- give me Nazis to blow away with my Thompson or Sten), it seemed to run just fine. Will...

    GeForce 6600 GT & Dell 4500?

Yes, I called Newegg the moment I received the card and saw the seal was off to go on record and they said I could get an RMA and exchange it (no restocking fee or anything else); figured i'd see if it worked, which it apparently does...now that you clarified that the change in core speed is...

    GeForce 6600 GT & Dell 4500?

Dennis, Thank you, and everyone, so much for all the info, support, and help. I'll check out the other forum you mentioned and I'll take your advice about loading games and playing them. I didn't download the 3dMark05, but did the PCMark (it was a much smaller program) and it gave me various...

    GeForce 6600 GT & Dell 4500?

Thanks again RajunCajun! Just curious, if I didn't have it plugged into my psu would it even work? Say, do you have any idea about that Everest benchmarky thing? As for "ain't broke don't fix it" -- this is so hard for me to adhere to...I'm neurotic as hell and like to make sure I'm getting...

    GeForce 6600 GT & Dell 4500?

Thanks knyghtbyte! And, no, I have no plans on upgrading further...still trying to find out if what I've got is fully operational.

    GeForce 6600 GT & Dell 4500?

this may be a silly question, but how will I know if my PSU is handling the card? And any idea anyone on whether or not that Everest benchmark speed drop mentioned above is power-related?

    GeForce 6600 GT & Dell 4500?

thanks dug777, I'll try that tonight (I'm working now...well, sort of). I just surfed to Future Mark's website...the 3DMark®05 Full Install Download (Build 1.2.0) is what you mean? That's some heavy duty minimum requirements (2GHz processor, 512MB RAM, DirectX®9.0 compliant graphics adapter...

    GeForce 6600 GT & Dell 4500?

Kriz, Ok, I'm going with the assumption that you know a heck of a lot more than I do about computer hardware, so now i'm kind of worried. As you see from my prior post, I did install the Leadtek 6600GT and I did NOT get any big error message, or warning as RajunCajun mentioned, that...

    GeForce 6600 GT & Dell 4500?

Sorry for the delay in responding to you CN, but it worked out fine. No problems with the power supply or AGP slot. Simply removed the old stock vc and installed the new. I did have to use the power supply splitter/extender that was included with the card, but that was expected. Strangely...

    GeForce 6600 GT & Dell 4500?

FYI - I purchased the Leadtek GeForce 6600GT (AGP) last night from newegg for $146 after $20 rebate. This was after confirming I indeed had an AGP slot and a free power connector (will definitely need extension though to reach). Also, may have to remove a PCI card (who uses a phone modem...

    GeForce 6600 GT & Dell 4500?

wow thanks RajunCajun, more good info.! Incidently I do have 2 HDs, 2 optical, 2 sticks ddr, nic, and assorted usb peripherals, but no tv tuner. I read somewhere (PCWorld mag i think) that you could add up the power drain by adding up each source of the power usage...but I think I'll just go...

    GeForce 6600 GT & Dell 4500?

yes, snowman, that seems to be the consensus over on the dell forum too. prolly just take the dive and order the Leadtek GeForce 6600 GT from newegg.com unless anyone has any better suggestions for where to buy. Thanks everyone for your help!

    GeForce 6600 GT & Dell 4500?

couldn't find a dell 350w psu on ebay...but may have found one at another location (any suggestions appreciated). Also, browsing thru the dell support forum I found the following posted by a regular there: custom power supply for dimension 4500? I'm at work now ;) and thus can't look...

    GeForce 6600 GT & Dell 4500?

Whoa isekii, I never thought of that possible problem. So, if I use another (more powerful) Dell psu that'll be the work-around? Thanks much!!

    GeForce 6600 GT & Dell 4500?

Appreciate the input blahsome regarding AGP 4x vs 8x... I've heard/read that a card capable of 8x will work in a 4x slot...but not sure if it capitalizes completely on the max speed. Come to think of it, not completely sure what the heck the 'x' refers to anyway...but not too worried about it...
