Question A new gaming build for 2024

-PC Use: -- Diablo 1/2/3, Warcraft 2/3. Stardew (Modded, with SVE if I can get it working), Bloodstained, grim dawn, various Sony games releases on Steam. https://steamcommunity.com/id/DlfC/games/ If you want to see what I've played and or my wishlist. Also, GOG. If possible, I'd like to try...

    CPU/Motherboard (&/GPU) for GPU passthrough?

I think it'd probably be better to do a "small" or medium ish upgrade, newer parts, being sold . . . Then several years from now when 4k, higher refresh rates, larger capacity HDD/SSDs and more (and faster) is/are cheaper do a complete overhaul (except probably the case, I'd imagine).

    CPU/Motherboard (&/GPU) for GPU passthrough?

    - Budget & Location: Would $800 be enough? And USA - What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better. *Able to pass a second GPU (such as a 7970, 980 or something else) through to a virtual machine of Windows 7 (or Windows 8.1/10) to play Windows games on a Linux distro...

    Computer parts for virtaulization

I would like to at some point (see fourth bullet point below) replace my CPU (and my motherboard if necessary) and perhaps a second GPU (or replace my current one) for virtaulization - run a native linux distro (like Mint) and run a virtual machine of Windows while passing through a gpu to...

Good 11-14 inch ultrabook? And e-book readers?

If they are electronically large (100+ MB) they'd probably be physical gigantic and heavy as well, would you want to carry couple books that are couple pounds? Or something that's less than a pound that contains all those books? I think i'd rather take the device. I'd probably go Kindle 3rd gen...

Good 11-14 inch ultrabook? And e-book readers?

School textbooks are gigantic, I think a biology book i've looked at is about 220 - 225 MB, out of 1.25 useable gigs I could fit a little more than half a dozen of books that size. If I major in something nanotech and can get physics, chemistry and biology (& algebra?/math) books via Amazon...

Good 11-14 inch ultrabook? And e-book readers?

I am somewhat in need of a new laptop to take notes at school with . . . I also want something like a kindle (or reasonable sized tablet(?)) for e-books Ultrabook: 11-14 inches 2-~4 pounds I have a little bit of scoliosis . . . so not too heavy a system, but not too light that I hate...

    Specialized folders

I'd presume this would be possible. When I actually build my computer, I plan to 'heavily' customize the folders that go on the HDD (using SSD as a boot). HDD ROOT (only folders I'd think) - Digital Games (GOG) - Digital Games (Steam) - Retail Games -- Blizzard --- Diablo --- WarCraft --...

    Stock 3770k w/ hyper 212 evo

Wouldn't I have to reapply thermal paste if I put the stock on and then put the hyper 212 on? Speaking of non-hardware, when building is there anything else I need to get besides the essential components (CPU (cooler, GPU, etc)? While i'm thinking of it the GPU is a powercolor 7970.

    Stock 3770k w/ hyper 212 evo

I do live in the southern US, specifically Texas and it can get to about 39+ (~104F?) degrees Celsius here for days at a time.

It's so weird looking at old CPU's on ebay

Well someday the CPU, GPU, and parts out today will be junk and we'll have even more powerful parts. 6,8,10,12+ CPU cores. 6,12,18 GB VRAM . . . .

    Stock 3770k w/ hyper 212 evo

Nearly have my system built (see previous made topic(s)) and curious to know what temps I'd presume to get from the I7 3770k @ stock speeds with a Hyper 212 evo in a Cooler Master HAF X. Speaking of the case, how loud should / would the fans get. Mostly because this room I'm in and where I plan...

    1080? 1440(p?)?

That's the odd thing, for the most part I can tell red and green apart but some things like cars may (or may not) look different to me. Traffic lights look different but the red and yellow seem to look similar to me than red and green. This emoticon - seems red or pink to me. It seems to...

    1080? 1440(p?)?

Right now I believe I am using: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16824009145.When I do finally get a new computer I may pick http://pcpartpicker....-monitor-pb278q. Think the change from what I use now to what I may eventually get is overkill? Also if your curious as to my GPU, a 7970 with 3 GB...

    What boards on market . . . .

That's somewhat helpful to know. Don't Gigabyte boards have a dual BIOS - Old (Non GUI) BIOS) and the new UEFI? Though when I looked at youtube vids it looked like the first BOOT BIOS was not UEFI. In a somewhat similar fashion to RIcharon I to am curious to know the differences between...
