    info: Dell 2209WA review

CNET rated my LP2275w as the best monitor they'd ever tested. It's the Lexus of LCDs: http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-mo...5-3174_7-33230410.html

    info: Dell 2209WA review

This monitor sounds too good to be true. A few months ago I got sick of my TN 22" screen and bought a new HP LP2275w, 22" S-PVA panel, for $560 (USD). Now all of a sudden there is a panel that is supposedly as good, for less than half the price? Not possible, I say. For starters, my screen...

PC acting up very badly lately - random reboots, often no video, WL mail crashes

Actually, I ran another diagnostic instead - the Microsoft Windows Memory Diagnostic. It failed 5 out of the 6 tests - the only one it passed was the "INVC" test. So today I went out and replaced the dud 1GB Samsung module with a 2GB Transcend stick. I ran the test again and it passed all 6...

PC acting up very badly lately - random reboots, often no video, WL mail crashes

I didn't stop the test - it stops itself. It seems to stop at around the 7 second mark, during test 2. The past few times I've tried running it, under the 'errors' column there's a 32767 blinking constantly next to test 2. The program then becomes unresponsive.

PC acting up very badly lately - random reboots, often no video, WL mail crashes

Thanks for the help guys. Here is my system, everything is stock standard. CPU: Intel E6750 RAM: Samsung 1GB DDR2 800 Mobo: Gigabyte P35-DS3L HDD: WD 400GB SATA GPU: XFX 6800GT 256MB I ran the memory test and wasn't sure what to make of the results. Something like this appeared on...

PC acting up very badly lately - random reboots, often no video, WL mail crashes

My 6 month old PC has been giving me hell lately. I've had dozens of crashes of Windows Live Mail - stating it's corrupted. Subsequently I lose all of my folders and then it re-downloads about 40,000 messages. Not only that, but IE crashes often, and the PC sometimes even shuts down randomly...

Why new Geforce 200 after only 4 months? :(

I don't get it - why have Nvidia already released a new generation of video cards not 4 months after the 9-series went on sale in Feb? We already have a sticky topic on this. Video Mod BFG10K.

    16:9 or 16:10 aspect on a 4:3 monitor - here's how!

Oh, right, so compare a brand-new modern LCD with an old non-flat CRT. What a fair comparison there. How about looking at a crummy 15" LCD from the same era? No thanks! It's sad that you (and so many others) have somehow convinced yourselves in your mind that what you have is better. In...

    16:9 or 16:10 aspect on a 4:3 monitor - here's how!

I honestly cannot believe this statement is coming from a platinum member as opposed to a 'noob' , but you're clueless. The Sony Trinitron (and other screens derived from the technology i.e. Mitsubishi Diamondtron) was the greatest TV / PC monitor invented - no LCD has or ever will come close...

    16:9 or 16:10 aspect on a 4:3 monitor - here's how!

They don't exist in the southern hemisphere, only the northern.

    16:9 or 16:10 aspect on a 4:3 monitor - here's how!

Actually, better, as you have a choice of 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratios. Yes, remember being able to actually *choose* resolutions? Welcome back to CRTs, folks. 16:9 will give you an even wider FOV in games, something that's very useful especially in RTS where being able to see more may you...

Widescreen resolutions on a 4:3 monitor?

Are you sure? I believe the flat panel scaling options only apply to ... flat panels over DVI? When you hook up a VGA CRT monitor, I think the options disappear. I could be wrong.

Widescreen resolutions on a 4:3 monitor?

Just wondering if there is any way to get a normal 4:3 (CRT) screen to display 16:10 or 16:9 resolutions, for things like gaming? I really don't want to give up my CRT, yet it sucks missing out on the extra field of view of widescreen games. I wouldn't mind putting up with slight bars at the...

    [Retired] The LCD Thread

What's all this talk about 8-bit LCD panels? I have always known 16.7 million color as 24-bit color. At least in windows: 32-bit (true) = 4B 24-bit (true) = 16.7M 16-bit (high) = 65k So where does all this 8-bit and 6-bit business come from?
