    Chaintech AV 710 driver

I can't find an updated driver for this card. Chaintech apparently no longer supports it. A google search turns up http://www.driverfiles.net/Sou...e,sh,38373,378,7,.html but damned if I can figure out how to actually download anything from that &%$*! site. Any ideas?

    Building a new PC

<<One last thing: keep in mind that to use more than 3GB RAM you'll need a 64-bit operating system. >> Riiight. I of course knew that. I, uh, just forgot. Oh well. Two sticks of 512 for $16 after rebate! Regarding the Motherboard....I've used Gigabyte's handy comparison tool and I...

    Building a new PC

Thanks Tim. Your advice to wait on the processor is well taken, and I can certainly wait a couple of weeks - I just have this unusable 8800GT burning the equivalent of a hole in my pocket. As for the cooler...I can probably wait and see on that as well. 4gigs of RAM almost seems like an...

    Building a new PC

Good points on the Motherboard and cooler. Let me ask you about the processor though - part of my research were the Ars Technica guides, and they have a line in there: "Currently, all the CPUs Intel offers below the E6550 (save for a few 1066 FSB holdovers) are based on the Allendale core...

    Building a new PC

Upgrade time for me. Current system is 2+ years old at this point, and while it still works ok, the fact that my new Geforce 8800GT DOESN'T FIT ON THE MOTHERBOARD is a good excuse. I'm looking for, essentially, a thumbs up before I pull the trigger and spend all this money; is all this going...

    Epox EP-9NPA+ULTRA chipset fan problem

Not sure if this should be here or in cooling but regardless; in January I built a new computer for the first time, using a Epox EP-9NPA+ULTRA motherboard. Everything works out suprisingly well. I get home from work today to hear a slight rattling sound coming from the case; the kind of sound...

    What size UPS?

Yeah, but at the very least, I'll be able to avoid having it shut down everytime we blow a fuse by turning on the air conditioning. And the screw! The screw totally grounds it. Yessir.

    What size UPS?

I actually did use that configuration tool the other day. Based on that, I'll probably go with an APC 750 from Zipzoomfly (despite no free shipping). You're all scaring the hell out of me with the grounding thing, but I'm going to have to rely on the screw that attaches the adapter to the...

    What size UPS?

It's a rental. And it's old. Foundation is heaps of piled stones in the basement old. Don't turn on the microwave in the kitchen when you're running both air conditioners in the upstairs bedrooms old. But we play the cards we're dealt. Yes, the 2-to-3 prong adapter screws into the wall...

    What size UPS?

Well, if I do get one, (and I probably will, better than nothing, right?) will that APC Back-UPS ES 500 be enough?

    What size UPS?

So should I not bother? I have one of the 2-to-3 prong adapters on there. Supposedly screwing it in provides grounding!

    What size UPS?

Not long. Long enough to shut down in an emergency. This place is susceptible to blown fuses and brown outs (two pronged wall sockets!), so I want to shield my machine as much as possible. How important is AVR, anyway?

    What size UPS?

I'm getting sick of the crappy power in my apartment, not to mention worried about my new machine. I'm planning on buying a UPS, but before I get a APC Back-UPS ES 500 from Amazon, I just want to make sure it will be able to handle everything. I'd like to plug in my computer (using the 450...

can't connect to internet on new Epox 9NPA+

Ahhhh, interesting. No, they weren't. I've set nVidia LAN Control to auto and enabled nVidia Lan Mac Address, so....progress. Still isn't working, of course. I see no reason to enable nVidia Lan PXE Boot Rom.....is there anything else that should be enabled?

can't connect to internet on new Epox 9NPA+

This drives me nuts. A Pyrrhic victory; the network card instantly created a Local Area Connection in my Network connections, the cable plugs in, and I'm online, faster than it takes to type that. So, for whatever reason, the motherboard NIC wasn't creating it's own local area connection...
