    Crazy networking problem

Ethics aside, I think you will want to bridge your ethernet connections. This will allow your desktop to connect to other computers on the wireless network. Bridging connections is made possible with Windows XP which I assume you're running.

    Memory Limit in XP-64

" A 64-bit computer can address 16 exabytes of memory. (An exabyte is 1,000 petabytes, a petabyte is 1,000 terabytes and a terabyte is 1,000 gigabytes.) " Source

Magnetic screwdrivers - yay or nay for building computers?

This is a little off topic, but I have a funny story about laptops and magnets. At my old job (Best Buy) I was working on a computer near a cash register. The register counter had one of those security tag demagnetizers built into it. Well, when I was working on the laptop, the register...

Win xp Student upgrade . whats the deal ? HELP !!

My university has a discount software program that allows you to purchase XP Pro for about $40. I don't know about if you're a high school student, however. Newegg allows you to purchase an OEM XP Home for $90 if you purchase it with hardware. What does that mean? Here's the answer in the...

Can storing icons and files on your desktop slow your machine?

I'd imagine that all the icons themselves have to be loaded into memory before you can view them. Sometimes, on a slow machine, you can see the icons being loaded. First, they'll start off as a white icon with a windows logo in it, then they'll be replaced by the normal icon picture. This...

Win XP install won't let me format w/FAT

A friend of mine had a external HDD enclosure that has a built in memory card reader. It allows you to take memory cards from cameras and transfer the images to the HDD without using a computer. Anyway, the requirements for the HDD enclosure called for the HDD to be formatted using FAT. Of...

Is there a way to clear the history on the file->run command?

If you talking about what I think you are this should work. TweakUI will let you do this. Install it and you'll find what you're looking for in the 'Paranoia' tab.

Can ISP's detect use of router? If so, how to avoid it...

I think an ISP would really try to stop you from using a router is if you were using one to share your connection with a neighbor. Because technically that's stealing cable, and they don't like that.
