Auto is the safest way to go but Asrock got one twirk - the ram speed on Auto defaults to 333 even u got DDR400 installed. set it manually to 400 and all is well. The Aperture is for AGP only - PCIe does not use it. Disregard all AGP bios setting if u don't have a AGP card.

reason for my question is that the default 'voltage' control mode makes a horrible (bone drilling) high pitched noise. switching to PWM.. ..seems to work well but what exactly is this mode? another two question - what is 'Errata 94 enhanced'? and 'CKE pwr down' ? tia

cheapest mob is Asrock (939) why not going AM2? - cpu pricing is pretty similar to 939 but you get a faster ram bus speed up to 800mhz

I have a SLi board but do not intend to make use of a second card. The SLi advantage is meager and does not justify to pay double.

AM2 is completely incompatible with all current sockets - that's what I hear..

If you mean the flat 4-pin molex next to the pcie slot - it's needed to power the *second* Sli card. If you mean the squary 4-pin near the cpu socket it's the dual 12V feed and must be plugged in.

Na, no Epox..they are still using bad caps! My Asrock 939SLi-eSata2 is rock stable and I recommend it
