I had ridiculous difficulty getting my SATA hard drives to work with the P5K until I worked out that all the SATA data cables supplied with the motherboard were faulty. I'm feeling very bitter right now.

I've solved this. The problem was a fault with all three of the SATA data cables supplied with the motherboard. I found this hard to believe, so swapped the cables in and out several times to double-check. Incredible! Am very disappointed with Asus' quality control.
