I have too a P5B non deluxe but with a E6600
What cooler did you used for the CPU ?
Did you use the stock one ?
I had tried setting things to 405, mem 1.9 and cpu 1.5, windows would boot and work fine for a while but cpu temp @ idle is 54 and would go to > 60 under load...
Y2klam : If I remember right, I managed yesterday to put FSB at 410 and multiplier of 8 using latest bios.
I had to up the Cpu vcore voltate to quite a lot, like 1.5V or so, Windows would boot but temperatures were too high. Checking cpu temp using Core Temp was showing at 54 idle and 60+ at...
I've had a chat with some guy from the xtremesystems.org forums and I've asked him what to do to overclock a E6600 + P5B non deluxe and from what I gather what I need to do is set multiplier to 8x and then push FSB to 380+ and see if it works.
My setup :
P5B non deluxe
Core 2 Duo E6600...
Ok. Well I've tried setting FSB to 400 on a P5B, machine doesn't boot up at all.
Pushed Vcore to 1.4175v as well as RAM to 2.0V, disabled Spread Spectrum and nada that wouldn't work.
Looks like I did a mistake trying to save some pennies not going for the P5B deluxe :(
For cooling I have got a AeroCool GT-1000.
I don't think they are sold these days but I used to have it on a 478 socket and it would support 775 so I reused it.
Hopefully this is not what's not letting me overclock more..
I'm having issues overclocking a E6600 and it's my demise that I went for a P5B and not a P5B Deluxe.
But I can't be arsed to send it back so I guess my overclocking will be short lived unless Asus miraculously transforms a P5B into a Deluxe one through a Bios upgrade ;)
My setup is :
E6600...
maxstone : I am no overclocker expert so could you tell me the settings you put for CPU/RAM (freq/volt) and maybe Northbridge settings ?
With everything at Auto I can set the RAM at around 310mhz, beyond that it will crash.
Cheers

y2klam:
I've got a P5B + E6600 + 2GB of Crucial Ballistix PC6400 and a X1900XT 512mb.
Managed to overclock easily to 2.79ghz (FSB/RAM:2/3) but as I am no expert in this area I am not sure what to do to get higher than that.
Tried pushing CPU voltage to 1.4v and RAM to 2.1v but SuperPI would...
Finally set up my P5B + Ballistix PC6400 ram and it's working fine, I was getting that BIOS error upon each reboot asking to press F1 to resume.
Flashed to 0309 and it's all ok now.
Tried to push frequency to 333 so my E6600 would be at 3ghz and it froze, had to clear the bios.
I sent this to G.Skill US tech support :
-------------------------
I am going to buy 2GB of G.Skill memory (F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ) with an ASUS P5B motherboard and I would like to know if you are aware this motherboard combined with this memory and a Conroe E6600 will work.
I came across...
