I have a similar setup, KT400 Barton 2500 at 2.16G mostly through multiplier. I have 512 Corsair 2700XMS and a 128MB GF4 Ti... My guess is the game itself is pretty intensive. With the nice video card you have I say keep it 2X AA and you should be able to crank up AF. Some games (mostly new...
From what I understand, it is the amount of system memory your video card can use AFTER the onboard video memory runs out... I have a 128M GF4 TI and 512 system, so I keep it at 64M just in case it needs some system memory to use.
Yes, your multiplier will be locked... you will simply be limited to the FSB of your mobo. So if you mobo "overclocks" above 133 FSB you can try to push that. Trust me, I work at Intel (network group) and we use 3.0 C procs on "Brownsville" 845 boards since we keep the procs in stock but don't...
Excellent... Just the kind of info I was looking for. I have a Gainward GF4 TI 4200 Golden Sample now and it overclocks higher than a 4400 at least, so I'm familiar with overclocking video cards. I have O/C'd cards since my Voodoo3. As far as the 9700 non-pro being a better value, I want to try...
It is in fact the 8 pipeline card for $237 at Xtreme Gear. It SPECIFICALLY mentions 8 pipelines in the pricewatch ad for that price. It's the Sapphire card, which we use the Sapphire 9000 series at Intel where I work. Sounds like a great deal for the money. Yeah, if the Se only has 4 pipelines...
To me it's simple: 5600 Ultra Rev2 smokes a cripled-ass 9600 Pro, period. EVERY review I've read confirms this. In fact the 5600 Ultra Rev2 will beat ANY GF4 TI even in almost every test. HOWEVER, screw those cards when for $50 more you can have a full-fledged 9800 for $237 on Pricewatch (8...
Wow, I only thought the difference was clock speed! So it's like nVidia did with their MX crap, cut the pipelines in half! OK, so I can get a non-SE Sapphire for about $237 shipped. I guess that's the way to go then... Are they clocked at 325/580 and how fast can they be clocked to in a case...
I'm looking at going with a 9800 (non-pro) card. I'm tired of trying to find the clock speeds between the two models. What are they and how much slower are the SE's? How high do the 9800's O/C to? Thanks in advance.
I guess the 5600 Ultras have come waaay down. The excellent and attractive Gainward card is only $126 on Pricewatch. It beats any GF4 TI... without AA and FSAA and ESPECIALLY WITH the eye candy turned on. Sure a 9800 is faster but a good deal for the money I say. Personally I'm gonna spend $230...
