Are larger SATA 2.5" drives going through growing pains?

I've been look to replace the 120gb drive in my McBook and was aiming for 250gb. However, when looking at reviews from customers I've seen a disturbing trend that most drives seemed to have surprisingly high numbers of complaints - people on their second and third failed drive, etc. Is this a...

    Games jumpy??

Given that the games are all old ones (diablo 1??) shouldn't it be ATI's responsibility to ensure that these popular games are fully compatible? I've submitted a trouble-ticket with ATI about this, its a little silly IMHO.

    Games jumpy??

I've got an Athlon64/3000+ with an ATI x1600 and several old games we've tried playing are incredibly jump on it! Both Diablo 1 and Bricks of Atlantis (a relatively recent shareware title) both should play smooth as a baby's bottom but instead are jumpy like a geek on caffeine. I had the 5.13...

    Best boot manager?

kamper, that's what I'd love to do, but if I can get a free or even $30-ish utility to work for me then I can save $300 in the deal. Good idea though.

sourceninja: that's awesome, I didn't know Grub could do that!

    Best boot manager?

Partitions have changed, specifically Windows XP's NTFS 5.1 came out after many of common partition managers were released. Also, some of them seem to be less flexible in how they work, they'll only accept partitions that they recognize, which kinda sucks if it doesn't recognize e.g. XFS on...

    Best boot manager?

cleverhandle: I want to be able to use Ghost to manage the partition images, I can't do that if each one is configured differently. Xosl looks interesting but I'm concerned about using software that hasn't been updated in 4+ years. Right now I'm going to try out MasterBooter, OSLoader and GAG.

    Best boot manager?

scottws, the problem with doing that is that each installation is not completely separated from the other one, e.g. if I set up C: and D:, install a second copy of Windows onto D: then the D: install still sees the C: drive - I want each one to be completely separate and believe it is the only...

    Best boot manager?

Anyone have recommendations on the best boot manager on the market these days? What I'm intending is setting up one PC with multiple copies of Windows XP on it to compare different web browsers, AOL, etc, all separate from each other. Each partition will be about 2-4gb and will need to be...

Internal DLT drive causing power problems?

I've got an internal DLT7000 drive in my system and it has been causing power problems. The system has a Gigabyte K8NXP-SLI, Athlon64/3000+, 2x 512mb RAM strips, a few HDs, an LG DVD burner, and most recently an ATI Radeon X1600 video card (had an X700 before that and a Geforce 6200 before...

    Thinkpad R50e Laptop $569.99 AC/AR w/free ship

You could extend that further to say the entire Intel x86 processor line is a hunk of 10 year old junk that needs a serious ground-up redesign not the go-faster-stripes they keep adding. Look at AMD, they redesigned the K6 and made the K7/Athlon, they redesigned it and made the...

WD Raptor 74G $121 shipped after MIR.

There are two rebates on it, both of which say they need the original UPC code, so how should that be handled?

SLI using ATI cards on nForce mobo?

I started wondering what it would take to make two ATI cards work on an nForce4 SLI motherboard? At that point, how about two Geforce cards on an ATI Crossfire mobo? Is it something that could be reverse engineered or would it simply cost each side too much to bother with? Its too bad there...
