New ATI 4850 problems, please help!

Well, didn't realize that ATI sets overscan to like 15% by default, but I still have a small black border. I still can't get WEI to recognize it, though the card is running as it should.

Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R F3 BIOS bad for overclocking?

1.28V is the lowest I can set the voltage for the CPU and still remain stable. I did set the voltage manually, tried what it was on the F2 BIOS but it wasn't stable. I actually had to bump the voltage to 1.3V to get it stable. I think I'll just end up going back to the F2 BIOS and see if...

Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R F3 BIOS bad for overclocking?

Formatted and installed Vista Ultimate x64 and just decided to go with the latest BIOS for my motherboard (F3), had been running F2 in XP previously. Running an E8400 @ 3.6GHz, on the F2 (XP) BIOS I had the voltage set to auto and it ran it at 1.28 in CPU-Z. Updated to Vista x64 and the...

Would like some help getting voltage down on mild overclock of E8400

Thanks for the reply. I got back at it today trying to find out the lowest voltage I can run 3.6 at, am currently at 1.264 (CPU-Z). Ran OCCT for 2 hours with no problems. I'd like to see if I could safely run it at 4GHz.

Yeah, forgot to mention the mobo in the post. Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R G.Skill 4GB DDR2-800

Would like some help getting voltage down on mild overclock of E8400

Is the difference between the voltage set in BIOS, and what it shows in Windows (CPU-Z) the vdroop? Also, which one do you go by when determining a safe voltage for overclocking? I can get it to 3.9GHz @ 1.36 (CPU-Z...1.4V set in BIOS).

Would like some help getting voltage down on mild overclock of E8400

I don't necessarily want/need 1.225, but something lower than what it is perhaps. I've read on here and elsewhere that when it's set to auto that the mobo usually sets it pretty high. I've got a lot of reading to do on overclocking, but I am just trying to get a grasp on why/why the mobo...

Would like some help getting voltage down on mild overclock of E8400

I've been running my E8400 (BX80570E8400) @ 3.6GHz for quite a while now, which is a fairly simple OC as I just set the FSB to 400 and manually set my RAM 1:1 (5-5-5-15). In the BIOS I just left everything set at Auto and let the mobo decide on the best voltage, but would like to lower it if...

Load temps with Xigmatek HDT-S1283 seem high.

oh...and I've got some reading up to do before I go any higher than 3.6. It's stable where it's at (3.6) but I can't go any higher and keep it stable in Prime95.

Load temps with Xigmatek HDT-S1283 seem high.

I did the 3 thin lines when I put it on the first time, but I redid it to make sure it was seated fully and just did a single thin line...I still had some AS5 that was filling the cracks, and 3 lines seemed like too much.

Load temps with Xigmatek HDT-S1283 seem high.

I've checked it twice, pulled the mobo the second time. Applied a bit too much thermal paste the first time, which I thought may be causing the temps. Took it and the mobo out, cleaned the processor and heatsink...left the thin paste in the cracks at the bottom of the heatsink though. Applied...

I've got this board with an E8400 and haven't had an issue since the initial install, been running for months and no complaints.

    e8400 at stock voltages

I've got an E8400 and GA-EP35-DS3R, processor is at 3.6 (400x9) RAM is 1:1, but it won't boot up at stock voltage. I am Prime95/OCCT stable @ 1.28V though, RAM is at 1.8V. I left everything in the BIOS set to whatever it is at default, just changed the FSB to 400 and manually set the RAM for...

    Running hot on an e8400

I acutally just installed that Xigmatek last night, for an E8400. I found it easiest to take the mobo out of the case to do it so I could ensure that it was seated fully. Best way I've found to get the push pin style to mount correctly is to make sure the black locking piece with the arrow...
