    To make best use of a widescreen you can move the operating system's taskbar (at the bottom of the screen) to the side. In your word processor the icon toolbars can be placed vertically. The free http://www.Opera.com web browser (with versions for Mac & Linux too) can stack page tabs vertically too.

    In future LED-backlit LCD screens will be replaced with all LEDs, so will the problem remain?
