It is Netgear WGR614 router.
When the machine is Booted/rebooted while the ROUTER is ON, the things WORK beautifully. Subsequent TURNing ON/OFF of the ROUTER (as long as the PC is ON) does NOT have any problems.

1) WinXP Home desktop.

3) Wired connected to Negear G router
Behaviour observed:
1) When router is Switched ON and the desktop is Booted. [NO PROBLEMS CASE!]

- ipconfig shows proper IP/subnet/default gateway.

4) Both desktops can connect to internet idpendently (no problems!)
5) Files are shared on WinXP desktop
