In case the story i was reading, and the picture i was looking at, were fake. And they were. ;)
Someone had rebranded a die shot of IBM's Xbox 360 CPU as the new triple core from AMD, which made it look like a specifically made native tri core chip, instead of a quad core with a deactivated core.
The ASUS A8V-MX isnt quite a good choice. All A64/Sempron/Opteron still use DDR1 memory, so thats not much of a concern. The K8M800 chipset that the A8V is based on does not offer support for PCI-Express 16x videocards, unfortunatly, and its speed in gaming is going to be far far slower than the...
Fry's workers aint the smartest. Probably gave him the wrong part out of the cage. Happened to me more than once.
Its also possible that they simply ran out of the older 3100+'s and started pulling from a new tray of 3100's
The real cold part of this deal is that the chip is the 32bit verson of the 3100+. Fry's DOES put the 64bit chips in their adds BUT DOES NOT SPECIFY if its the 32bit (cold deal) or the 64bit (hot). The people at the store normally have no idea either. Meaning the only way to know is to buy the...
Wow! Cost on newegg for the 3800+ chip alone is $322. They also have a Sempron 2400+ tower, with 128mb, 40gig hd, and cdrom for $99. Quite the deal for an instant computer.
Ive been running an early unlocked 1.6 Applebred at 2.1 (10.5x200, full 256 cache, 1.65v) for over a year in my Shuttle AN35 Ultra and its certainly a soldier. Puts up great scores with DDR400 and is really snappy. No crazy/loud overclocking cooling needed either!
I reccommend going with this:

Yea, it is refurbished (its not sold new anymore)... and yes its a GFFX 5200.
But the 2D on the GFFX series is pretty good, and its alot cheaper than the Matrox offering. You...
Nforce -> Nforce, you should be fine. Via -> Via, you should be fine.
Any brand switch, like SiS -> Nforce or Via -> Nforce, and you are in for a long night if you are trying not to reinstall.
Just found this on Newegg:
"We bought 10 of these to put in rigs for our gaming center. 9 of the 10 are working fine. The last one however, after 4 months of usage seized up. We opened up the casing and discovered that the magnetic strip around the perimeter of the fan was starting to come...
For 10+ YEARS IBM was the standard in HD quality. Then came the now imfamous "OMG DEATHSTAR ROFLLMAOMOMAMA" incident. Now, for the rest of time, Hitachi (who purchased IBM's storage devision) will be the "DEATHSTAROMGAZM" producer, even if they blow away the competition. So are there more...
