cat 6 550 mhz - stranded or solid?

Forgive me for asking, but is there something special about making patch cables for cat6 vs cat5? It stands to reason that someone somewhere makes them, again I am not trying to be a wise-ass, just want to understand the difficulty.

cat 6 550 mhz - stranded or solid?

I am planing an update to my home to cat6 wiring, and I understand the difference between plenum an regular cable. But, which is better for normal patch cables solid or stranded? I want to buy a bulk 1000 foot roll and my longest run will probably be 75 feet. I have 2 24 port D-Link non-managed...

The Unofficial Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R P35 Board Thread

It has to be a Vista update, since both my machines with this board are doing the same thing when resuming from sleep! And previous to a week or so ago they went to sleep and resumed just fine...

I have noticed the same symptoms, did you figure out the issue? I am concerned that maybe my CoolerMaster ExtremePowerDuo 600W might not be as good as the Antec Trio 650W that i have on my other Gigabyte boards... I had already tested the setup with an E6700 running at 3.33 Ghz with 2...

    E6750 & Gigabyte P35C-DS3R Overclocking Thread

Question about the CPU Voltage Control setting in the BIOS, i need a little more volts to my CPU so i set the value at 1.35000V from the default (i know big jump), but when i reboot and go back into the BIOS under PC Health Status, it shows that i am only pushing 1.280V? So, is that number in...

Update: I flash the F10 BIOS and SmartFAN/PWM seems to be working now, running one instance of prime95, HWMonitor reports fan running at ~1,500 RPM, 50, 51, 46, 49 degrees. The fan goes up to 2,800 RPM, around what temp does PWM max out the fan? Also, what do most set the "Intel® CPU Enhanced...

The Unofficial Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R P35 Board Thread

I have a GA-P35C-DS3R (v2.0 F6 bios) board with a Q6600 runnning at 2.997 Ghz (fsb set to 333). The "SmartFAN Control Method" when set to "AUTO" and the "SmartFAN Control Mode" set to "PWM", does not seem to adjust the fan speed enough on my Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. The core temps are in...

    GA-EP35C-DS3R

So has anybody here tried one of the new EP boards? I just went to purchase another GA-P35C-DS3R, since I have had lots of luck with my 2.0 rev one and all the store had was the EP version at rev 2.1. Anybody have good, bad, or indifferent to say about it? Sorry, meant to put under the...

So, I noticed the same thing going from F4 to F8 (with failsafe defaults), but went to F6 and it seems to be better. The DRAM Voltage is 1.842. Only thing i changed from defaults was the SATA Port0-3 Native Mode Enabled (default was disabled)

Yes, I just got another GA-P35C-DS3R, the store didn't have much more selection that I considered. With the F4 BIOS it doesn't tell the actual voltage, it just says OK (unless I am missing the command to see? CTL+F1?) It has been running since yesterday afternoon, so i'll let it run for a few...

fausto412: Ok, another stupid question - new board, all seems to be working @F4 BIOS, flash to F8 or not? And maybe now could you tell what your SATA controllers are set for? I left them at defaults.

Good catch on the motherboard! All seems to be running fine on the 680i motherboard. I didn't move the CPU, but the memory, hard drive, and graphics card. Chris P.S. - Thanks for all the help!

Actually this board was rather cheap $139 here in Houston, TX this week. I didn't see the ds3l at the local store, but TomsHardware.com seemed to like the DS3R. And I assumed that th 680i boards were more of a gaming platform, and overclocker -- but this one seems to have a lot of that...
