I ran a side-by-side comparison with two XP cpus, one a "Barton" and the other a "T-bred". They had an identical Sisoft score running at 2200Mhz, however when I ran a comparison to check their performance capability when loading Quake3 demos, the Barton was 5ms slower then the "T-bred". The...
Has anyone been able to use the nVidia System Utility to tweak their CPU voltage?
The A7N8X-E is only one of five boards that runs this utility. However, apparently they haven't worked out the controls for the voltage or fans yet.
Any suggestions on a utility program that can tweak the...
Tried this utility on an Asus A7N8X-E but had very limited results. The FSB/AGP/RAM controls are available for tweaking, but the really needed ones like the voltage and fan controls are not available.
Anyone know of a utility program that will tweak the voltages and fan?
:P

.....Some people are lucky and some NOT so lucky when they RMA boards.
I RMAd my A7N8X-E board that topped out at 200FSB and got back an A7N8X-E board that easily does 225FSB.
:P My advice would be to either RMA the board (again) or mod the Northbridge Vdd.
I was having the same issue the other day with my thermal diode, the PSU would shut down after 5 seconds. Simple solution was to reapply some Artic Silver on the HS. I checked my voltage rails with my DMM prior to reapplying the Silver, just to be sure.
However, at the time I was doing some HS...
I used to run the Asus A7V333 rev. 1.01 prior to upgrading to an Asus A7N8X-E. I believe that you will be able to run the Barton up to 166FSB but not synchonously. That was resolved in the rev. 1.02 version. However, there should be adequate headroom for your current usage. The "Barton"...
Another note for comparison:
1) Not all 2500 "Barton" processors are 200Mhz FSB capable.
I recently RMA'd my 2500 Barton because it wouldn't hit the 200 FSB level and now have a 2500 that runs at 200+ FSB at 1.775 vcore.
I also have an unlocked 2600 "Thoroughbred" that I'm running with...
