Replaced C2D and P5W due to CPU fan failure.

Thank you for all the replies. I'm not sure why the mobo didn't shutdown if it stopped receiving the RPM signal from the fan. Regarding the CPU overheat alarm, I have my BIOS set at default settings and never heard an alarm. (My original mobo AND my new mobo are both the ASUS P5W DH Deluxe...

Replaced C2D and P5W due to CPU fan failure.

Bumping because I'm flying out of town on Monday so I'm hoping to get some feedback before then. Much obliged to anyone offering suggestions!

Replaced C2D and P5W due to CPU fan failure.

Well I'm now $470 poorer due to my Freezer 7 Pro fan failing on me and thus allowing my E6400 to fry itself and my P5W DH Deluxe. All components of my system are brand-new as of September of this year. In short, here's what happened: Rebooted PC on Wednesday night (no particular reason...

    Dell 2407WFP or BenQ FP241W

Honestly, I see no reason not to buy the Dell. It's (currently) over $100 cheaper and has a couple built-in card readers (one less device to have to plug into your main box). I use this display 8-12 hours a day for both work and gaming and it truly is beautiful. Remember I am a graphic and web...

    Dell 2407WFP or BenQ FP241W

If it's far superior, and you intend to keep it for a while, then yes, the BenQ would be a better choice and worth the extra $80. I don't know anything about it, however, so make sure you're comparing apples to apples in your research and are weighing what's important to you, etc.

    Dell 2407WFP or BenQ FP241W

I understand. All my computer gear is tax-deductible because I work from home. So replacing parts frequently is not a problem for me. Remember, though, that my only hesitation with the Dell is the slight banding that only affects me when I do gradients in Photoshop. For gaming and movie...

Major issue with Xbox 360 1080p over VGA on 24" LCD's

I'm using the VGA cable for the 360. I'll try the hard reset next time.

Trying to understand 2D/3D clock differences

Aha, there's the implementation of the acronym 'Double Data Rate'. I get it now. Also, am I to assume that BOTH cards are running at those speeds? There doesn't seem to be a way to have Everest differentiate between each card. Thanks x80064.

Should I post this in another forum? Please advise, thank you!

    Dell 2407WFP or BenQ FP241W

I have the Dell 2407 (rev. A02) and there are still banding issues. It's not terrible, mind you, and if you have the settings adjusted properly you can get the banding down to say a 2 out of 10 (where 0 is no banding and 10 is severe banding). For gaming and movie watching, I've not noticed...

Major issue with Xbox 360 1080p over VGA on 24" LCD's

I got lost reading this thread but thought I'd post my question here since it seems similar. I have the Dell 2407 (native res of 1920x1200) and hooked my friend's 360 to it last night. The closest setting for 360 is 1920x1080 (which my monitor supports). However, no matter what I tried, I could...

Trying to understand 2D/3D clock differences

Using Everest to display my video GPU and video Memory clocks (on the OSD), I see that in 2D/desktop mode they are 500mhz/594mhz (GPU/Memory). This is normal and expected for my cards (x1900 Crossfire edition and x1900xt). When I go into 3D/gaming mode, I'm alt-tabbing back to my desktop so I...

Soundcard for $25, will it do the trick?

Thanks for all the replies, it's much appreciated! I really like this Chaintech on ZipZoom: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=292003 Does anyone know, will I still be able to use my frontside audio ports with this card? Obviously I would have to remove the...

Soundcard for $25, will it do the trick?

I'm currently using the Realtek onboard audio that came with my ASUS P5W DH Deluxe (link to full system specs in my sig). However, I do get some occasional hisses and pops when gaming so I'm thinking I should just go ahead and buy a separate sound card. Here's one I found at CompUSA nice'n...
