Out of sheer boredom, I want to use this old Trident TGUI9440 chipset PCI Video card as a secondary to my Geforce 2 GTS in multimonitor mode with my 19" on GF2 and my old 15" on the Trident. Is this possible?

Well to be safe you should probably get 300 watts as a minimum. It will elimate any stability problems your friend has in the future if he needs to add any hardware.

Sounds to me more like a problem with XP rather than your comp. Look for Power Management options in XP...

Depending on what software you're using, it could be that you're not FINALIZING the CD-Rs. AFAIK finalizing it basically just finishes out the CD with unusable sectors

OK, rebuild the old system, go into windows registry and look for the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum delete that and now rebuild your new system. This will force windows to redetect all of its hardware and should fix your problems NO GUARANTEES!
