    480GTX Idle @72C

I'm just using the stock bios at the moment, maybe I'll flash the new one one to see if that does bring down temps!

Oh yeah definitely, look at the transistor count - 1.9billion for the 460 and 3billion for the 480 - a much bigger core size, so its bound to run hotter.

Thanks guys! I'll mess around with the MSI Afterburner fan profiles tomorrow! In the meantime, I will definitely enjoy the card! Now where's that 8xAA slider?

    480GTX Idle @72C

Ah right! Ok so I have one 24" monitor and my HDTV running at the same res, both 1920x1080. I've just turned off the HDTV screen, and temps have dropped to 60C which seems much better (though still pretty warm eh!) You guys are geniuses. So, ok, is there custom fan profile that I can...

    480GTX Idle @72C

Hi guys, Just got hold of an MSI 480GTX - This thing is HOT! It idles at 71C according to Realtemp v3.40 and GPUz v0.4.4! Do you think its running too hot for my system to handle? I have a NZXT M59, H50 cooler on the CPU, a 12cm side panel fan blowing air directly onto the GPUs heatpipes and...

280 GTX running at 105C! Help!

Warning! This story does not have a happy ending. So, after emailing BFGs tech support/RMA service for the past week and a bit, I have had absolutely no response. It appears their RMA partner in Wales no longer works with them (you ship the cards to them, they test them, and ship them onto...

280 GTX running at 105C! Help!

So to update: I reapplied for an RMA last Thursday (22/07/10), but BFG have not got back to me with any kind of response. I am pretty frustrated with this now. Its been 3 weeks since all this began and I am still without a functional GPU. I think all this business about pulling out of...

No, only temps - whats a good fan monitoring software? Also, if this is the problem it still means the card is faulty....

280 GTX running at 105C! Help!

Well according to a press release regarding them leaving the GPU industry... "We will continue to provide our award-winning power supplies and gaming systems, and are working on a few new products as well. I’d like to stress that we will continue to provide RMA support for our current...

280 GTX running at 105C! Help!

Yes we are talking 105 centigrade, right now its 20C in my room. I have a Leadtek 280GTX that I am borrowing while mine is fixed - that maxes out at about 88C. The BFG 280 is clearly faulty!

280 GTX running at 105C! Help!

Can you believe it! I just received the replacement card back - it has EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM! ARGH! It looks as though they have just stuck a new cooler on the card (since it was totally dust free) - when its the chipset that appears to be faulty! I have emailed them again. We'll see what...
