I S**T you not it was my external zip drive hooked to the parrallel port. I went through dissableing stuff in the bios one by one and what do you know, i dissable the parallel port and no more stutter. So i unplugged the zip drive and left everything else and its all fine. Who would have thought...
Well I updated the bios to F4L, swapped out the video card and RAM to my old stuff and that didnt make a difference. I uninstalled all the nforce drivers so nothing on my motherboard even worked and it still was stuttering constantly. Im thinking it has to be a defective board unless anyone else...
I have read some people have turned off sideband addressing and this helped. What is that and where would I turn it off at?
Also you think my MB could be deffective?
In the bios it is set to 8x. I have the f3 bios and have tried at the optimal settings. I am going to try switching back to my other video card and memory and see if that does anything.
Well it still stutters in the doom 3 demo without sound. I got 53 fps btw. This is a really confusing problem.
Ive found that the stuttering is happening even without any major graphics or sound. I can be in Wordpad and if I hold a key down it stutters as it repeats across the screen.
I closed out of all the nvidia MB and video card utilities I have. That didnt help. I noticed when I was in bios that the hardware monitors refreshed on about the same interval. I have the alarms disabled but I dont see a way to dissable all hardware monitors in the bios. Anyone know of a way to...
I also tried running memory at 166 mhz, I messed with memory timings and agp bus speeds. Those made no difference. I turned AGP fast writes off, I read that helped some people. That also made no effect. I compared the stutter in windows media player to the windows analog clock....seems almost...
Do you have two sticks of memory (Dual channel)? If so you might try removing one and see if you still get errors. I had trouble with blue screens when installing windows xp on my system (below) but took one stick out and no more blue screens.
