The problem I've heard is this: certain VIA northbridges (those with code beginning with 1EA0 or 1EA4) do not run stably at 133FSB.
This is despite having PC133 ram, doing the MSI dance, closing the L1, and L7 bridges, etc.
I have a MSI K7T Turbo (no RAID), and have problems running at 133 FSB. On the motherboard is printed MS6330 ver 3.0 (no B).
Now I'm wondering if I got something defective. I have heard that certain VIA northbridges are problematic, but I can't remove the heatsink over the northbridge to...
Mine is a K6/2 500. Tried various combinations of FSB and multiplier, but result is disappointing. Could only get mine to work at 525Mhz (=105 x 5, at 2.3V core).
Basically the K6/2 doesn't seem to OC very well.
I'm thinking of OCing a Toshiba 2595cdt notebook. It's got a Celeron 400Mhz. So I think increasing the FSB should do it, but I'm not sure the mobo allows any tweaking.
Any chance of success? Has anyone tried OCing a notebook? What's your experience like?
Thanks for any advice.
I bought this 2 weeks ago for $95 (MIR). The rebate is from SMC, and ended on 2/19/01.
It's a neat little gadget. Easy to use and stable. I was up and running in 5 mins. For $113, the price isn't bad either. Rival products from Dlink or Linksys cost more.
