i just bought and installed a new, retail box plextor 16/10/40 drive. i was under the impression that plextor drives are generally quiet drives. but for some reason my plextor is quite a bit louder than my other old hp cd-rw drive. the plextor burns discs fine. but the noise...anyone else...

Is there a way to tell whether a cd-rw drive (ie. Iomega) is a rebadged Plextor just by looking at the box? I've visited roundsparrow.com and looked through the posts here...it seems that the only ways are either looking at the drive itself (checking for the LCD lights) or looking up the drive...

Does anyone know of any B&M stores that sell Plextor drives? Or how about the rebadged Plextors? How can I tell if a drive is a rebadged Plextor from looking at the box? (an Iomega drive at Best Buy for example) Any help is appreciated...thanks! Ps. I'm looking for a Plextor 16x
