Well I broke down and contacted Acer support. According to them the phenom n660 is compatible with my computer. This leaves me scratching my head..

I was looking on cpu-world and when i searched my stock cpu (p340) i got the list of similar cpu choices. the phenom n660 was on the list but not highlighted like the rest..oh well I think ill give the phenom n970 a try. similar performance with mullti threaded performance being a lot better...

Thanks for all the replies and helpful info. Unless I'm missing something I thought the phenom n660 was compatible. Same core family ( champlain), same socket s1g4 ). It is 35 watt vs 25watt of p340

Few questions.. I have a acer aspire 5552-3691. Most stuff I've read says it has AMD m880g but CPU z says AMD 785gx. Don't know what to believe plus can't find any official info from AMD on a 785gx only 785g. Any info? Second thing.. I have tried to update CPU on this laptop. It has a athlon...
