The X1800XL is only 20$ more expensive. Which should I get? I've seen comparissons on Tom's hardware but I can't make up my mind...

What's the largest capacity of NIMH batteries? I've seen 2300 mAh (here in Europe) but that's about the highest I think. I would like to get the ones with most capacity but they have to stay affordable
I'v got an external battery pack to charge my RD2780 (audio/video player) when on the road. Well it normally charges at 5V so putting in four NIMH batteries (run at 1,25V so five make 5V) should not dammage it. But if I were to put in four normal alkanline batteries (run at 1,5V so make 6V)...
I've heard different things:
One is thats it's bad for Li-Ion batteries to be completely discharged and it was being compared to a piece of metal beeing bent to much and in the end breaking.
The other is that in order to have longer battery life with your Li-Ion you should discharge it...
