You'd actually be getting better performance because your ram will then be running at a higher speed...And unless you have to raise the voltages, your temps shouldn't go up really at all.
Iceboie, what are the temperatures in the room the PC is in?
I think you're worrying WAY too much about this...42c idles/52c load is what I get when I leave my window opened and my room temps are in the 60s. Now, I live in MI, so it may be cooler here than where you live; However, when I had...
Sanitydc, I said my idle temps were around 48c...his are around 42c per his last post...Those aren't the same temperatures...
42c for a non overclocked e6300, depending on ambient room temp, is PERFECTLY NORMAL!
/Agree blurp...most people have these temps while overclocked...
Dunno where you get your info from Sanitydc, but those are perfectly normal temps...That's 3 of us just in this thread getting the same temps and 2 of us with the same cooler and of the 6 core2 systems I've built, all with...
First of all, your temps are ABSOLUTELY fine...
What's your ambient temperature? If it's in the low-mid 70s (F) or so, then you're fine...Also do you know what your temp is under load? Run some orthos on it and let us know how hot it gets...
I'm using an E6300 with the Scythe Ninja Plus...
Hey, no problem. Glad I could help.
As for the 2GB question...Sure, I mean 2GB is always a good option. I was thinking about that when I threw that system together for you...but it will put you a bit more over budget...but like I said if you shop around and find a deal, you may save just...
Here's something I threw together real quick for you that should make a very capable gaming system. I didn't have a LOT of time, so I'm quoting all prices from newegg. Also, while it may be a tad over budget, I'm listing some of the most solid components you can get. If you want to go...
What's your vcore and vmch set at? I found once I upped my vcore to a certain point, I no longer had those issues...somewhere around 1.45v
Edit: Also, a new beta bios is out (716)...just waiting for someone to host it at Xtremesystems. The guy who has it says it shows some promise so...
Here's a link to my experience with the MSI 975x Platinum V2.1 board and an E6300:
MSI 975X + E6300
Also, here are two links over at Xtremesystems dedicated solely to the Gigabyte and MSI boards:

Gigabyte DS3
Gigabyte also has 2 other popular 965 based...
I have an E6300 on a board that isn't even famous for its overclocking abilities and I keep my vcore at 1.42 effective and have it oc'd to 2975MHz (425x7). You should have no problem getting 3.2GHz with an E6400 just a little above stock vcore. If you're comfortable with that, I'd leave it and...
Yea, I know the 965 is better for the 6300 and 6400s when it comes to overclocking, but I needed Crossfire, so that pretty much left me with the 975 and after tweaking a bit more, I have it at 2950MHz...I'm happy with a 1.1GHz OC...All I know is this thing flies and I'm loving every minute of it =)
So this is my first post here...just joined tonight. I'll try to make this informative for those who have similar setups...
My rig is in the sig...running a Scythe Ninja cooler with 120mm fan.
Idle temps: 44C
Load temps: 59C

A few bios settings: I am using...
