I used isopropyl alcohol to clean the cpu. also, i didn't think about it, but i never thought to plug in my old fan/heatsink (the noisy one) to make sure that the new one wasn't messed up. i did get a reply from asus and they just said to update the bios. (ugghh) i am going to borrow a cpu...

also.. yes. as per the user's manual, i unplugged the power, romoved the battery, and switched the jumpers to clear the CMOS, then reset the jumpers, put the battery back in, plugged in the power, and tried to boot. still the same problem, all the fans crank up, but before any beeps, everything...
