Yeah, I agree with the washed out look. It's weird because in games I don't notice it. I always set the gamma correction option in nhancer anyways to make sure it stays at 2.2. I have the settings pretty much where I like them atm. I have no regrets about the purchase.

I went to the lcd test page you linked. I can't change the gamma settings on my 8800gtx without the gradients banding, so I just left it at the default. I tried to set it so everything was close to a 2.2 gamma, but like I said, it caused banding. At default levels, 10% and 25% were close to 2.2...

Thanks for all the help. The Planar is a beautiful monitor. I just got done playing Test Drive Unlimited at 1900x1200 and what a difference. Even the menu buttons weren't all that bad to work with. Thanks to all the people who answered my questions in this thread.

Thanks a lot. My only other question is with the color temp. It says 6500k is recommended, but the only defaults are 9300k and 7500k. Is the default setting satisfactory, or should I try to tweak it?

Okay, I just recieved my Planar today. It looks great and I don't notice any dead pixels. My question is does anyone know how to calibrate it properly? I checked the calibration threads listed, but they don't have anything for the Planar. I don't want to go screwing around with the color...

So I switched to a TV instead of a monitor...

How are the 37"-42" LCD TVs as far as input lag and response time?

8800GTX is running out of steam at 1900x1200, suggestions?

Just out of curiosity, when is Nvidia slated to release their next gen card (whatever that happens to be atm)?

As of right now, I'm going with the PX2611W. However, I have a question regarding buying an LCD TV. I was browsing around Best Buy, Circuit City, and Sams Club today. All 3 stores have LCD TVs of 37" to 42" for around $800-$1000 which is pretty much my budget. All have a native res of 1920x1080...

From Doublesight's website Our Policy regarding "Dead Pixels" The TFT LCD panel consists of millions of small transistors. Defective transistors will each cause a missing red, green or blue dot. We follow the industry quality standard set by major LCD panel manufacturers. It is customary...

The only problem I see with the DoubleSight is that they have a 7 dead pixel policy. It's almost as bad as Neweggs. I've heard great things about Planar CS and I'm wondering if that's the better deal.

Thanks a lot. I'll definitely do that. I'm not in a big rush to get a new one, so I'll wait for some reviews on it.

I'm trying to narrow down my options for a new LCD. I've read through the guide extensively, and don't know if I should go with the Planar PX2611W or the NEC LCD2690. I want an LCD for both gaming and movies with good color quality. IPS monitors seem to be where it's at. I'm not all that picky...

    EVGA lifetime warranty question!

I got burned by that one. Only have a 1 year on my 8800GTX. IMO, I should have went with BFG who I've never had a problem with. I dont overlock my cards, so could care less about that part.

    8800GTX oblivon and WOOOOHOOOOOOOOO

Yeah, Oblivion runs like a dream on my system. 1600X1200 with 8xQAA and 16xAF. I could use 16xQAA, but all my texture mods take its toll at that level of AA. Plus, 8x looks sweet enough for me. Woot!
