Thanks mfenn. It looks like the Dell heatsink is $190 new at a 3rd party. Thus the total upgrade would be $470. The system currently has 4x2GB RDIMMs. Do you know if I can add 4x4GB to the other 4 slots? to make it 24GB total? Or do I have to have it balanced with 2GB RDIMMs only?
I have an extra Dell Precision T5600 workstation that was sent to us with only 1 Xeon E5-2620 installed. It has a Dell factory heatsink tower on it. The second socket is open and I want to install another Xeon E5-2620 before deploying it to a lab. Can I do this without Dell support? Can I...
So I went to Microcenter and it was a confusing mess. First, I didn't want to go with the FX-4100 bundle (it was only $99) because the benchmarks of the FX-6100 in VirtualLarry's post look bad. So I was heading towards the Phenom 960T. The printed Ad said $120 for the bundle with a 760G...
I plan to go there tomorrow and see what non-ad offers there may be with free motherboards. Getting a better understanding of the possibilities. Thanks!
Thanks Larry. And how much of a boost is that over a E6300/P45 setup?
EDIT: I looked at the benchmarks for the FX-4100 and it performs worst than II X4 620. Is Bulldozer really recommended at this price range?
Hey experts.
Need some advice on how to proceed. I want to build the most basic system to start playing SW Old Republic MMO. I already have the following parts laying around:
Case
600W Modular Power Supply
Radeon 5770 1GB
640GB WD 7200rpm Hard Drive
2x2GB DDR2 and 2x2GB DDR3
Intel...
PS3 60GB and extra controller
Madden 2007
Tiger Woods 2007
Need for Speed Carbon
Fight Night 3
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Rock climbing harness, chalk bag, chalk
Intel Core Duo 2 E6300
I jumped. That seems like a good enough price to try it. Will update this thread with some results when I get it, but I have a feeling that others will be reviewing it soon.
Both Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad. Here is the feature overview for the 600i series lineup, courtesy of AT:

have the G.Skill F2-6400CL5D-@GBNQ been talked about yet? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231098
I didn't find them mentioned in either the guide or n7's DDR2 Ram list.
