The temp does go down with the case open yeah I do have an aluminion case, and a 120mm antec tri3 fan set on its highest option!

No just when i have it on load idle ranges on 50/60 depending on the room temp and how long its been turned on and i have tried half a pea, a pea, also a couple of stripes ect as im applying the thermal paste
